Totally Tropical

Visit to The Jungle Garden
Who would have imagined what we would find behind this house in the suburbs?
Nick Wilson of the Jungle Garden
When Nick Wilson moved to this property in 1988, it had a typical garden with a lawn and flower borders.  Inspired by family holidays in Cornwall, Nick has transformed this 85 x 27 ft space into a veritable jungle.  The shape and textures of the foliage, objects of interest at every turn and two ponds make this a fascinating garden which can be seen from walkways at differing heights.

"The hum of bees is the voice of the garden." - Elizabeth Lawrence

 Visit to The Arium
On 15th MayFriday Forum had a very interesting visit to The Arium, Leeds parks nursery in Thorner.  Andrew and Lee explained how Leeds City Council hope to make a viable business out of the garden centre and cafe which means  Leeds will be able to go on providing our lovely bedded out roundabouts and parks, unlike some authorities which have suffered cutbacks on such 'luxuries'.

The huge greenhouses were built by the Dutch at great cost.  All the processes are automated and the water is recycled.

It wouldn't be a Friday Forum visit without tea and cake!

The June 1st meeting saw a big clean up of Paxton Hall, inside and out.  Everyone got involved with tea and cakes as a reward.  Your contribution is appreciated.
